Retail Execution Solutions Leaving 73% Unsatisfied

Whether they want to capture accurate data about shelf conditions, increase effective bi-directional communication between the field and headquarters, or create intelligent ordering suggestions, consumer packaged goods companies (CPG’s) turn towards retail execution solutions to solve any number of challenges.

Though the majority of CPGs have updated their retail execution solutions in the past year and are using up-to-date technology, many companies feel there is disconnect between their solutions’ capabilities and the challenges they are looking to resolve, according to a recent CGT study (Infographic).

While 57 percent of those surveyed noted, ‘capturing accurate data about shelf conditions,’ as their top challenge to resolve, only 27 percent claimed to be satisfied with their current solution. Similarly, 37 percent noted that their number one challenge was ‘to measure the effectiveness or marketing promotions-’ in this instance a meager three percent claimed to be satisfied with their solution.

Consumer goods companies want their solutions to be customizable, flexible, easy to modify and most importantly, innovative. Organizations are looking for capabilities that include anonymous price checks in nearby retailers, intelligent image capturing at the shelf, and the ability to kick-start social media activity based on promotional compliance. Using the right solution for a mobile workforce can make all the difference at the shelf.
