A LONG TRADITION
OF GRATITUDE

The first American Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621, to commemorate the harvest reaped by the Plymouth Colony after a harsh winter.  Days of thanksgiving continued to be observed throughout the colonies after fall harvests, and in 1863, as a way to unite the nation during the Civil war, Abraham Lincoln gave his Thanksgiving Proclamation, declaring the fourth Thursday of November a national day of giving thanks.

Nearly 150 years later, with an economic crisis looming large over the industrialized world, now more than ever do we need to take stock of the positive, count our blessings and continue working together to overcome setbacks and move toward a brighter tomorrow.

RW3 is working hard to serve our customers through innovative, cost-saving technologies, and providing timely, relevant data that is focused on key strategies and ROI results.  We continue to strengthen our knowledge base to provide effective, efficient support and guidance.

This is the time of year when we are reminded to give thanks – for our loved ones, our health, the gift of each day ... and the time to again thank you for being such an important part of the RW3 family.

Warm wishes to you and your families this Thanksgiving!

Client Focus: National Tobacco Company

RW3 has been working with National Tobacco Company since 2007.  NTC’s business is very unique in that each field representative calls on Retail, Wholesale and Headquarter locations in his/her territory – a territory that can include anywhere from 900 to 2000 stores.

RW3 InSight Group has designed a coverage report that identifies each store called on and targets certain areas based on High, Medium, and Low Selling Influence.  This vital information is directed to field reps and management, and is utilized to improve effectiveness of promotions/programs/displays - along with an additional report that illustrates the Rep’s actual progress in executing the promotions at retail throughout the quarter.

Currently, RW3’s Team is working on automating one of NTC’s sales tools with the goal to quantify the Rep’s time in the field, calls made, and sales goals.
NTC has seen marked improvement in coverage and sales execution since beginning work with RW3.

Offshore Update
by Gail Bailey, Off-shore Manager & Project Manager

Our offshore development team has been hard at work, complementing the exceptional efforts of the Austin team in keeping client projects on track. Our Russian development group did a wonderful job on the VETs project which was delivered a month ahead of schedule.   We had increased the core team by four members to handle the NROC and VETS workload, but have now been able to downsize the team to seven full timers. Communication between the teams has improved enabling more efficient project management and our plan to scale up or down with offshore resources depending on our work load is working very well.

Our six-member core team in India has been working primarily on Sony, Timex, Kelloggs, Time Warner, and NTC projects. They have been able to keep us supplied with qualified staff as needed, and even though we see changes in actual members, the turnover is low which facilitates valuable knowledge transfer.  Vasanth is doing an outstanding job, spending his time working on 16 projects and providing lots of help with customer support. Having Vasanth on-site indefinitely has eliminated the need for rotating team members between Chennai and Austin.  Overall, we are very pleased with the quality and professionalism demonstrated by the entire offshore team and look forward to continuing our global presence.

Business On the Road

Bruce Nagle, CEO, represented RW3 at the recent GMA MSM Conference in Florida.  Attended by over 300 senior-level sales and marketing executives from CPG manufacturers, sales agencies and retail merchandising executives, the conference focused on the exchange of innovative and creative strategies and industry expertise.   Bruce had the opportunity to meet with a few clients, as well as glean very important insights on ways to support Consumer Goods companies through the current economic crisis.

The NACS Show in Chicago was attended by our Senior Director of Account Services, Tom Garry.  The NACS show was well attended by Retailers and vendors alike, and the focus on delivering products and services to the customers carried throughout the event.
An extensive New Item section highlighted the most current needs and wants of consumers.

Many of the seminars at NACS discussed how the squeeze on gas prices and up charges from Credit Card Companies is chipping away at Retailer profits. Especially in tough economic times, Convenience Stores can offer a quick and easy way for consumers to satisfy their needs.
